Many times in the past, we’ve had musical personalities focus more on the business side of things and had the music suffer for it. Popular examples being 50 Cent, P. Diddy, and our very own D’banj, but Mr Eazi is prepared to balance it all.

Mr Eazi, since the release of Sophomore album “Life is Eazi: Lagos to London“, has decided to throw a sizeable chunk of focus on the Record Label/Brand Management which he started titled “EmPawa Africa“. The vision was about bringing emerging Afrobeats artists and taking them to the mainstream limelight through advanced digital marketing, this has received huge success since it’s start with Joeboy being an amazing attestation to that fact.

Joeboy is Mr Eazi’s biggest emPawa artist

Ever since his debut album, Mr Eazi had been hailed by a lot of Afrobeats veterans for his prowess in the digital field and being one of the fastest risers to the international scene the country has ever seen.

While EmPawa is reason enough for the Banku pioneer to pay less attention to his musical field, he has decided to take the high way and balance both. We got the first hint of a musical project coming from Mr Eazi when the release of his Lead single “I No go give up on You” coincided with a billboard exclusive feature where it was revealed that he indeed had an EP on the way and a collaboration with Nicki Minaj. Two weeks later, we have the 4-track EP on our hands – without the Nicki Minaj collab though, gutted we would have to wait a while for that.

Mr Eazi does not miss when it comes to musical projects, he is a music perfectionist that knows the importance of each and every department of a musical project. From it’s theme to the production to the flow. He continues with his amazing discography of good projects with “One Day You Will Understand” EP which is a follow-up to his 2018 project, “Life is Eazi, Vol.2: Lagos To London

One Day You Will Understand is an all-too-short Afropop project that mixes between Tempos and production but with a unified theme, LOVE. He doesn’t diverge from his natural style, a style that sees him blend Ghanaian bops with Natural afrobeats which births afropop bliss that ranges from high to low tempo bops with tenor-bass vocals that is as smooth as silk.

Track-by-Track Review of “One Day You Will Understand

The 4-Track project features fellow EmPawa collaborators, King Promise and C Natty with production credits coming from massively talented and experienced producers Guiltybeatz, Blaq jersey, Nonso Amadi and Legendury Beatz.

Tracklist and Production credits

The 10-minute project begins with “Baby I’m Jealous“. This song is a fans favorite off the EP and there are a lot of reasons why. King Promise is probably one of the best african artists you can get on a feature, his vocal execution of hooks and choruses are effortlessly superb. One thing better than a King promise feature is a Mr Eazi and King Promise Collab, it just cannot miss. Baby I’m Jealous is a mid tempo tune produced by Ghanaian producer Guiltybeatz and it calms the soul better than any other tune on here.

Lead single “I No Go Give Up on You” released on the run-up to the EP, is already gaining grounds commercially, this is because the song just spells CATCHY, the Blaq Jerzee produced jam contains a hook and chorus that is set to remain on your lips for a long time.

On “Ogogoro No Sweet Pass Pami” Nonso Amadi delivers a slow tempo melodious production with laid back bass and kicks that gives reminisces about early Eazi with songs like ‘Leg Over‘ and ‘Skin Tight‘.

The EP concludes on a groovy note with a feature from another “Wizkid clone” C Natty, the title of this one is basically the whole chorus “Baby This Your Body Na Gobe Fine Fine Sweet Okpeke“. Being the fastest tempo song on this, it is set to get you on your dancing shoes and ready to go to a club that is currently closed due to the lock-down. Yikes

Mr Eazi doesn’t falter when it comes to musical projects. On “One Day You Will Understand” – The Theme, replay value, production is spot on. With the whole project being a combined 10 Minutes, it just clocks the “Too Short” mark and leaves Eazi lovers worldwide craving for more.
